Broadleaf weed control lawn applications (4 applications are recommended per year).
Lawn Care Program can be provided with an annual contract or pay as you go basis.
Our Weed Control Program is designed to keep beds optimally weed free with the use of manual pulling and herbicide applications.
Weed control initiation is an application of pre-emergent to all shrub bed areas in the late winter to maximize weed control by preventing weed seed germination. Additional pre-emergent will be applied as needed to ensure superior results.
Weed Control Follow-ups will be scheduled approximately every 6-8 weeks. Each visit consists of treating small weeds with Roundup, and pulling large unsightly weeds if necessary. The Program warranty is designed to keep beds optimally weed free.
The program includes proper chemical applications applied to shrub beds, curbs, fence lines, and gravel areas.
Annual flower beds are excluded from these applications. These areas should be managed manually.
Core aeration is the mechanical removal of cores or plugs of soil from the lawn. This procedure allows air, moisture, and nutrients to reach the grass roots resulting in improved health and vigor of the turf. This helps relieve soil compaction and allows water to drain deeper to the root zone to help prevent moss and wet, muddy areas in the lawn. The cores left on the lawn are valuable in controlling thatch by the introduction of soil microbes in the upper layers of thatch barrier.
Thatching or dethatching is the mechanical removal of thatch from your lawns thatch barrier, using what is called a thatch machine or power rake. This service should only be performed in cases of excessive thatch. Every lawn has a normal amount of thatch between 1/2" to 3/4". More than that would be considered excessive thatch. The thatch barrier is a healthy part of your lawn. This barrier provides your grass roots insulation in cold winter months, and helps hold in moisture during hot summer months. Under certain conditions you can grow excessive thatch warranting the need for dethatching. The removed thatch should be manually raked up and disposed of properly. Regular aerations will help prevent your lawn from growing an excessive amount of thatch. The soil microbes from the decomposing plugs rinse over the thatch barrier essentially helping it break down.
Thatching, aerating, along with re-seeding with peat moss covering, lime and jump start fertilizer can bring the worst of lawns back to life for only a fraction of the cost to replace it. The thatch machine will not only remove thatch from your lawn, it will also remove sticks, pinecones, and moss. This allowing an aerator to pull deeper plugs allowing more soil seed contact. Some lawn areas will be completely bald after dethatching, and these areas should be double aerated. Often these services combined with a peat moss covering and recommended applications along with regular watering will create a brand new lawn.
Trimming and pruning can be performed on an as needed bases, or part of an annual maintenance program.
For most customers a full pruning should be performed by mid-spring. We would the prefer to continue to shape and sheer throughout the growing season until all plants are dormant if on a full maintenance schedule.
Pruning would involve correcting structure and shape of all plantings, shrubs, and trees
(less than 7' tall) during the dormant season. All dead limbs and crossed branches up to 6' would also be removed. Tall tree branches growing into walkways or parking areas could be limbed up to 10'.
Any tree work with ladders or extended equipment would be considered tall tree work. Tall tree work would be billed seperately from normal trimming and pruning services. This service could be done on an as needed basis or can be applied to an annual contract.
